The Department of Political Science, Sri Sathya Sai College for Women, Bhubaneswar, organized a seminar on “Revisiting Secularism in India” on 12/09/2025 to discuss the relevance and evolving nature of secularism in contemporary society.
The resource person for the seminar was Dr. Subhasmita Khuntia, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Ramadevi Women’s University. Dr. Khuntia presented insightful perspectives on the historical development of secularism in India, its constitutional framework, and the challenges faced in maintaining religious harmony and inclusivity in a diverse society.
The seminar commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. Niharika Das, Principal of the college. Dr. Lulubala Nayak, Head of the Department of Political Science, introduced the guest speaker and briefly elaborated on the significance of revisiting secularism in today’s socio-political context. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Aparna Patra, faculty member in the Political Science department, who expressed gratitude to the resource person, participants, and organizing team.
