The Department of Sanskrit organized a seminar on the topic ‘कालिदासस्य मेघदूतम् : एकं सन्देशकाव्यम्’ (Kalidasa’s Meghadutam: Ekam Sandesha Kavyam) on 23.09.25 in Room No. L.R. The resource person was Tanushree Mishra, Lecturer of Sailendra Narayana Sanskruta Mahavidyalaya, Rajnagar,Kendrapada, along with our Principal Dr. Niharika Das and other staff members and students.

The seminar commenced with the lighting of the candle and Veda Patha. The welcome speech was delivered by Poonam Sahoo, a student of +3 3rd-year Sanskrit, followed by a speech from our Principal Dr. Niharika Das who introduced the seminar topic. Smt. Minati Jena also delivered her speech. The Head of Department, Smt. Jyotsnarani Pattnaik, introduced the guest and shared her thoughts on the topic.

Our resource person then gave a brief description of the topic, followed by a question–answer session. The Principal honoured the resource person with a gift and Uttariya as a token of appreciation. A dance performance related to the seminar topic was presented by Poonam Sahoo. The vote of thanks was proposed by Jayashree Pradhan of +3 3rd-year, Department of Sanskrit.
Kalidasa’s Meghadutam stands as a remarkable masterpiece in the Sandesha-kavya tradition of Sanskrit poetry. Its lyrical elegance, emotional depth, and profound cultural significance elevate it beyond a mere poem, securing its place in the realm of world literature. Often regarded as the origin of the Sandesha-kavya genre, Meghadutam continues to inspire poets, scholars, and readers across centuries through its timeless beauty and universal themes of love, longing, and communication.
