The National Education Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Sri Sathya Sai College for Women on 11th November 2025 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Minister of Education. The event revolved around the contemporary theme “AI and Education: Human Agency in an Automated World”, emphasizing the dynamic role of human intelligence amidst growing automation.
The programme commenced at 11:00 a.m. with the welcoming of dignitaries on the dais, followed by the lighting of the holy lamp symbolizing the dispelling of ignorance and the spread of knowledge. The invocation song “Sahana Bhabatu” created a serene and auspicious atmosphere. Saplings were presented to the esteemed guests as a gesture of respect and environmental consciousness.
The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. Niharika Das, Principal of the college, who highlighted the significance of education in shaping responsible citizens and the ethical integration of technology in learning. Ms. Pravati Panda, Lecturer in English, introduced the distinguished guests.
The Guest of Honour then addressed the gathering, sharing insightful thoughts on the transformative power of AI in modern education. This was followed by students’ perspective sharing, where learners presented their views on how artificial intelligence can coexist with human creativity and critical thinking.
The Chief Speaker’s Address further deepened the discussion, focusing on the need for emotional intelligence and moral values in an AI-driven world.
The celebration continued with a Prize Distribution Ceremony recognizing academic and extracurricular achievements, followed by the Felicitation of Guests as a token of gratitude.
One of the highlights of the event was the Unveiling of the Wall Magazine, showcasing creative writings, artworks, and reflections by students related to the day’s theme.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Lulubala Nayak, Lecturer in Political Science, who expressed heartfelt appreciation to all guests, faculty members, and students for their active participation and cooperation.
Overall, the event was a meaningful blend of intellectual exchange and celebration, reinforcing the importance of education in harmonizing technology with humanity.
