About Department

The department of Economics is one of the department in the faculty Arts of Sri Sathya Sai College for Women. It was established in the year 1981. Initially the department only offered General courses in Economics since 2017-18 the Department started offering Honours Course in Economics under Ramadevi Women’s University. Since its inception, the department has been offering undergraduate courses in Economics. The department has a long tradition of imparting quality education in the field of Economics enabling the students to pursue Economics as a further career option. The department strives to focus on a proper blending of ‘quality’ and ‘relevance’ in the thrust areas of Micro Economics, Macro Economics, Mathematical Methods for Economics, Agricultural Economics, Statistical Methods for Economics, Public Finance, Development Economics and Monetary Economics.

To emerge as a locus of Economics education with focus on innovative teaching, research activities which enable to build a productive, informed and consequential society.

  • To impart knowledge, skill and aptitude to all stakeholders of higher education in the discipline of Economics education.
  • To instil a sense of social responsibility among the students through the means of lessons from Economics which would to maximise the students critical thinking and analytical skill.
  • To take Economics beyond classroom, inculcate problem solving skills and sensitiveness among student for rational decision making.
