On 19th November 2024, the Department of Psychology at Sri Sathya Sai Degree College for Women observed International Men’s Day with a program held at the Library Reading Room. The event also marked a significant milestone —the launch of Manpeeth, a mental health community focused on men ; which was an initiative by Swayamshree Ghosh, A student of 2nd year Dept. of Psychology.
The program opened with warm greetings and a heartfelt acknowledgment of the principal, Dr Debjani Singh, The HOD, Dr. Niharika Das, Mrs. Barsa Rani Ojha, Mrs. Santwana Mohanty (Lecturers Dept. Of Psychology). A leaflet was unveiled, followed by a discussion on the importance of addressing men’s mental health, emphasizing empathy and shared societal responsibility.
A short, impactful video detailed Manpeeth’s journey and mission, captivating the audience and setting the tone for the initiative. The principal, HOD, and faculty members then posted the announcement of the official launch of the Manpeeth WhatsApp community, signifying their support.
Inspirational speeches followed, where the principal, The HOD, and two lecturers shared their thoughts on breaking stereotypes and the significance of fostering mental health awareness. Their words resonated with the audience, underlining the importance of positive male role models and community-driven initiatives like Manpeeth.
The event concluded with a warm vote of thanks by Miss Banisha Mohapatra, leaving everyone inspired to contribute to this movement of empathy, understanding, and change.
