An initiative has been taken up by Prinicipal Dr. Niharika Das after discussion with IQAC-NAAC & Botany Department to create a beautiful ambience in science block by creating a medicinal plant garden with the theme ‘Nature Cure Planting Initiative’ and to augment the process the CAPF (Central Armed Para Military Force) Association, Bhubaneswar also collaborated to fulfil this objective. The programme was planned a week before the due date (29th July 2025 at 10:00 am) in which all planning and activities were conducted & supervised by CAPF, BBSR & Botany Department, SSSCW, BBSR).
On 29th July 2025 the Guest of Honour Mr. T.N. Khuntia (IGP, CAPF) was welcomed by offering of flowers and it was followed by a plantation programme. In this activity forty-five (45) numbers of medicinal and aromatic plants were planted in the science block at 10:00 am with 70 nos. of teaching, non-teaching faculties & students along with 15 members from CAPF, BBSR team. This was followed by a meeting in presence of our Principal, where lighting of the lamp was done by the guest, speeches by the invited guests. The objective of the programme was to inculcate a behavioural change towards environmental sustainability and to establish a medicinal garden titled as ‘Sai Niroga Vatika’. All 45 students pledged to adopt one plant as their family member and take care of it. In the end of the programme the guests, staffs and students gave their feedback to increase green cover, community engagement with continued support and efforts to this initiative to have a sustainable & healthy lifestyle. The meeting was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mrunmayee Rath, IQAC Coordinator, SSSCW, BBSR.
