Sri Sathya Sai College for Women, Bhubaneswar
An Eight-Day Self Defence Training Programme was organized at Sri Sathya Sai College for Women, Bhubaneswar from 11th February 2026 to 19th February 2026 for the +3 First Year girl students. The programme was conducted as per the guidelines of the Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha, under the Self Defence Club (SDC) initiative.
The programme was organized under the continuous guidance and encouragement of Dr. Niharika Das, Principal, whose motivation from the very beginning ensured the smooth and successful implementation of the programme in the college.
The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Bindulata Panda, Lecturer in Zoology, who systematically planned and supervised the training sessions. The initiative aimed at empowering girl students with practical self-defence skills, boosting their confidence, and creating awareness about personal safety.
During the eight days of training, students were taught various self-defence techniques and strategies to protect themselves in challenging situations. The sessions were disciplined, interactive, and highly beneficial. The participants showed great enthusiasm and active involvement throughout the programme.
The Valedictory Programme was held on 19th February 2026. The programme commenced with the Lighting of the Lamp. The event was graced by the presence of the Principal and faculty members from different departments, whose participation encouraged the students.
The students presented a demonstration of various self-defence techniques learned during the training period. Certificates were distributed to all participating students in recognition of their active participation.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Mrs. Jayanti Singh, Lecturer in Philosophy and Committee Member of SDC, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Principal for her guidance, the Government authorities for their initiative, the faculty members for their support, and the students for their enthusiastic participation.
The Government-sponsored Self Defence Programme proved to be a significant and empowering initiative, strengthening confidence, discipline, and awareness among the students.
