Mrs. Smita Biswal, HOD Sociology, along with Smt. Saswati pati, PET of our college led a delegation of 20 students and attended the state level seminar on “Issues and challenges of single women’’ organized by center for child welfare of social development (CCWSD), Bhubaneswar on 28th July,2025 at Geet Govind Sadan, Bhubaneswar.
The seminar was chaired by Sri. Sudhanidhi Rout, Chairman, CCWSD and Sri. Vivekananda Sahoo, Add. Secretary WCD Dept., Govt. of Odisha attended as chief Guest of the seminar, Sri. Sudhanidhi Rout, delivered welcome address and Sri. Bishnu Prasad Acharya, Secretary, CCWSD delivered keynote address. The Chief Guest of the seminar in his address touched upon a few issues and challenges faced by the single women in the society and informed about the welfare schemes, policy, guidelines and preventive and protective measures taken by the Government of Odisha.
Dr. Rajdarshini Patra, project Director, Research & women Development gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation based on her case study in 5 Slums on issues and challenges of women and shared her research findings on the subject. A book on this research study titled ‘Issues and challenges on women’ written by the Dr. Patra was also inaugurated by the chief Guest.
Sri. Laxmikanta Mishra, Convener, education cell BJP, Odisha as a chief speaker in the seminar in his address mention about the challenges face by Indian women and how our social ethos has shaped the safety and security of our womenfolk historically and culturally.

In the technical session five speakers delivered very informative presentation on different aspect pertaining to women issues Dr. Jharana Swain Principal Counsellor family court, Bhubaneswar
Spoke about various legal provision and procedure under different Acts and rules which can be invoked for protection of rights for singles women. Dr. Lopamudra priyadarshini, AVP, Hindalco industries LTD. gave a comparative status of women (National, International and Odisha perspectives).
Smt. Anushree Das founder and chairperson ADIBHA SHE VISION Mentioned about the challenges faced by modern women and talked about work place safety and security of single women. Smt. Jyoshna Rout Director planning CCWSD in her address discuss about the issue faced by single women in society and role of civil society organizations in educating the women about the rights. Smt. R. Sunanda Choudhury Director Fund Rising briefly outlined about the outcome of the seminar and she also proposed the vote of thanks.
The seminar was attended by about 200 students and faculty members of different college in and around Bhubaneswar.
The seminar which started with opening song ‘Janaganamana’ was concluded and closed with ‘Vande mataram’.
